Fishing:

The River Till is England’s only tributary of the might River Tweed.  It is well known for its run of sea trout in the Spring and Summer months.  The Tweed attracts fishermen from all over the world and is famous for its salmon stocks.  Both rivers sit within a couple of miles from The Gables and Night Fishing is available through the Ford & Etal Estates.

  • Secure storage for your fishing equipment.

Walking:

Exploring North Northumberland on foot is easy from The Gables…. walk straight out of our front door into the most beautiful and accessible countryside, footpaths, bridleways and lanes.  We can recommend a number of local walks. The Cheviot Hills are a short drive away.

Cycling:

We are situated next to the National Cycle Network signed routes.  National Route 1 forms part of the “Coast & Castles cycle route” which almost passes our front door, being on the main National Route 1 from Berwick to Melrose.

  • Secured Bike Storage at The Gables
  • Birdwatching at Ford Moss Nature Reserve, the nearby Farne Islands and Lindisfarne.
